David Illig commented on David Illig's newsfeed:

I have been advised authoritatively that the plant that I identified as Amaryllis belladonna, and which is posted under that species, is in fact the very similar looking Lycoris squamigera. I regret the error. I have changed the machine tag on Flickr and re-posted to the EOL group.

@Cyndy Parr: Thanks very much, Cyndy. I did fix the faulty machine tag on the Flickr page and the photos are now on the correct page. I again apologize for the inconvenience. "Citizen scientist."

David Illig commented on David Illig's newsfeed:

Of the three photos of Mus musculus that I submitted, one had an erroneous machine tag. It read "Mus muscula" instead of "Mus musculus." This led to these photographs being put on a page of their own as "Mus muscula." If you choose to use the photos, they should be moved to "Mus musculus." I apologize for the error.

David Illig commented on an older version of Polistes dominula, European paper wasp:

March 5, 2013: The making of this photo nearly two years ago inspired me to write a piece of flash fiction about my encounter with the queen wasp. Please see "There Oughta Be a Law" at the web site The Glass Coin. This is a non-commercial site and I was not paid for the story.

According to the other three photos here, the Wikipedia photo, and bugguide.net, this is not Monobia quadridens.

David Illig commented on an older version of Cymbalophora sp. Antenna Detail:

I almost certainly misidentified this moth. It should be Apantesis phalerata. This photo should be removed from Cymbalophora and moved to Apantesis phalerata. I regret the error.

I almost certainly misidentified this moth. It should be Apantesis phalerata. This photo, which already appears under Apantesis phalerata, should be removed from Cymbalophora. I regret the error.

David Illig commented on "Katja Schulz":

Hello, Katja, You wrote "David, the images got misplaced on EOL because they have the wrong machine tags. Bob fixed the association on EOL, but the source image on Flickr still has the incorrect machine tag. The easiest way to fix such problems is to simply fix the machine tag." Thanks for pointing that out. I think that occurred as a result of a Flickr bug, because I type my machine tags outside the web browser, double-check them for accuracy, then copy and paste. This wasn't the first time that I've had scrambled machine tags. No matter, I've fixed them on Flickr. --David

Nicely done! It could do without the soundtrack, however.

David Illig commented on an older version of Melanoplus differentialis,:

This is my photo of Melanoplus differentials. Somehow it and another of my photos of Melanoplus differentials were accidentally posted following two of my photos on the Limax maximus page. The photos were all harvested from the EOL group on Flickr, where the two species were adjacent to one another. David Illig
