Matthew Heinicke

About me

I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Biology at Villanova University. At Villanova, I study the evolutionary history of gekkotans (geckos and Australian legless lizards), focusing of phylogenetic relationships, times of divergence, historical biogeography, and inferring ancestral states. This work is similar in vein to the work I did as a Ph. D. student at Pennsylvania State University, where I studied the evolutionary history of New World direct-developing frogs.

As a 2011 EOL Rubenstein fellow, I am developing content for EOL related to gekkotans, specifically focused on making taxonomic, geographic, and morphological information in this group accessible to the scientific community and general public.
