Tanya Dewey commented on "Geographic Range":
Thanks Katja, I fixed the erroneous geographic range keyword.

Tanya Dewey commented on "Stagnicola corvus":
This looks strange, the images are identified as Lymnaea palustris, but the taxon page is identified as Stagnicola corvus. There's no indication of synonymy. ?

Tanya Dewey commented on "Tamias striatus":
Captions must not be harvested by EOL, but that would be really useful.
-
Tanya Dewey commented on "Tamias striatus":
Yes, this is not a live animal image (see Phil's comment). The source database, the Animal Diversity Web, uses a tagging system for images so that this is easy to see what kind of image it is (scat, nest, eggs, etc.). EOL doesn't read the tags, so it just looks like it's supposed to be an image of a chipmunk.

Tanya Dewey commented on "Coleoptera":
Hm, we looked into this and it actually looks like a data issue on our end, there are probably similar errors elsewhere. But we'll get that fixed.
-
Tanya Dewey commented on "Coleoptera":
Thanks Leo! Definitely a spider :) Phil identified an image upload where some of the identifications got mixed up, this is probably one of those! We will fix it.
-
Tanya Dewey commented on "Chrysopilus thoracicus":
Thank you, we noted that it is a female on the source image, although that change won't be reflected right away on ADW or in the next ADW export to EOL.
-
Tanya Dewey commented on "Chlosyne lacinia":
The id won't change until we do a site "hatch" - which we normally do regularly but which is delayed now because we are implementing some design changes, you know how that goes :) . . .
-
Tanya Dewey commented on "Chlosyne lacinia":
Thank you, Nathan, Phil thinks he made a mistake loading the image and agrees it is a California sister. We've fixed the identification in the ADW database also.

Tanya Dewey commented on "Phoenicopterus ruber":
Hi Michael, Are you sure about this? This was at the National Zoo and their signage indicated this was a juvenile, see the caption associated with the source image: "Immature greater flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber), showing the lack of dietary pigment in the feathers of juveniles, captive individuals."

Tanya Dewey commented on Tanya Dewey's newsfeed:
Hi Michael, I edited the 3 S. maurus images we have to reflect the newer taxonomy. It may take some time for those edits to be reflected on EOL. From our side we have to update taxonomy -> update site -> update data feed to EOL, and we're in the middle of a site revision, so there will be a delay.

Tanya Dewey commented on an older version of Saxicola torquatus:
Hello Michael, Thanks very much for your help with image identification. We use the Howard and Moore, 2003 taxonomy, which doesn't recognize Saxicola maura. Can you provide a reference so that we can revise our taxonomy and make the appropriate note re: the scientific literature? Once we get that we can revise the image identification in the Animal Diversity Web.

I was really hoping to see a follow up to Rod's comments below, esp. 1, 2, and 4. ??
