Jesse Ausubel

About me

I work in environmental science and technology and both conduct and manage research at The Rockefeller University and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. From participation in the Census of Marine Life, I am especially interested in marine biodiversity. I am also deeply involved in DNA barcoding. During 2006-2007 I served as the founding chairman of the Encyclopedia of Life. Ed Wilson, Dan Janzen, and others provided the vision, and the MacArthur and Sloan foundations provided the means. Thanks to them and now the many thousands of people who are making the EOL a wonderful reality.
