Vertebrate Natural History, an upper division course, covered the ecology, evolution, phylogeny, life history, and behavior of the major vertebrate clades, with an emphasis on field trips and Texas vertebrates. The students were assigned to write content for four species found in Texas. They chose the ghost-faced bat (Moormoops megalophylla), the longnose gar (Lepisosteus osseus), the Texas cichlid (Herichthys cyanoguttatus), and the western ribbonsnake (Thamnophis proximus).
