This species occurs in Belize, Honduras (Isla Roatán), Guatemala, El Salvador, Panamá, Colombia, west Ecuador, northwest Peru, north Venezuela, and Grenada (Lesser Antilles) (Gardner, 2007). Also it is found in Trinidad and Tobago. Its is found from sea level to 2,000 m. The specimen from Honduras, Guat., and El Salvador may be Marmosa mexicana. There is confusion about the taxonomy of these specimen (F. Reid pers. comm).
