Range Description

Range includes the Sacramento-San Joaquin river drainage in California, including the Pit River and tributaries to Goose Lake in Oregon; also the Russian River, and smaller coastal drainages, including the Gualala and Navarro drainages; streams tributary to Tomales Bay, and Pescadero Creek (San Mateo County), and, in the Monterey Bay drainage, the San Lorenzo, Pajaro and Salinas rivers (Moyle 2002, Page and Burr 2011). Introduced population occur in the Eel River (northwestern California), Soquel Creek (Santa Cruz County), and Cuyama River (San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties, where possibly native), California (Moyle 2002).
