Description of Brevibacillus

Genus raised to include species previously assigned to Bacillus. With about a dozen species, some pathogenic. The type species is Brevibacillus brevis (Migula 1900) described by SHIDA, TAKAGI, KADOWAKI and KOMAGATA, 1996. Proposal for two new genera, Brevibacillus gen. nov. and Aneurinibacillus gen. nov. Int. J. Syst. Bacteriol., 46, 939-946.
