Ecology

Habitat

Habitat and Ecology

Habitat and Ecology
The Whitespotted Stargazer burrows in sand and mud. While concealed, it attracts its prey by means of a worm shaped lure in its mouth. This demersal species is found in the deeper shelf area (Bianchi 1992) at depths of approximately 20–200 m. Analyses from Bianchi (1992) put this species in a continental shelf habitat grouping, just below the thermocline on sandy bottoms.
