Proteles cristata (Aardwolf) is a species of mammals in the family hyaenas. They are listed in cites appendix iii. They are native to Ethiopia. They are solitary, nocturnal carnivores. Individuals are known to live for 300 months and can grow to 697.91 mm. They have parental care (paternal care and female provides care). They rely on running to move around.
