Range Description

Drepanis funerea was only ever seen in forest understorey on Moloka`i, Hawai`i, USA, although fossils are known from the adjacent Maui (James and Olson 1991). The species was last collected in 1907 and intensive searches in the subsequent few decades could find no sign of it (Richardson 1949).
