Range Description

Zoothera tanganjicae is found in Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo, where it is known from at least ten forest blocks3. In Nyungwe Forest (Rwanda), the species occurs at densities of up to 0.4 pairs per hectare in optimal habitat (closed forest)1. Its taxonomic status is yet to be fully or satisfactorily resolved2; it is often considered a subspecies of the widespread Abyssinian Ground-Thrush Z. piaggiae.
