Range Description

Zoothera tanganjicae is found in Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo, where it is known from at least ten forest blocks³. In Nyungwe Forest (Rwanda), the species occurs at densities of up to 0.4 pairs per hectare in optimal habitat (closed forest)¹. Its taxonomic status is yet to be fully or satisfactorily resolved²; it is often considered a subspecies of the widespread Abyssinian Ground-Thrush Z. piaggiae.
