Description of Chrysoreinhardia

Vegetative cells palmelloid, lacking cell walls but surrounded by gelatinous matrix; chloroplast(s) deeply divided with several lobes; pyrenoids stalked; zoospores biflagellate, with long anteriorly directed flagellum bearing tripartite tubular hairs (without lateral filaments) and shorter posteriorly directed smooth flagellum; eyespot absent; Type species Chrysoreinhardia algicola (Reinhard 1885) Billard et al. 1999 (with a homonym among the fungi).
