Flagella inserting subapically in an anterior longitudinal depression. Small peripheral extrusomes and several rows of extrusomes in a longitudinal band along ventral side of cell. Reported from freshwater sites. The genus name may be spelled Katablepharis in the botanical literature. Type species K. phoenikoston Skuja 1939.
