Description of Storeatula

Cryptomonad flagellates, cells are ellipsoid with a slightly pointed anterior; a furrow is lacking, the tubular gullet subtending the posterior margin of the vestibulum, extending to approximately the middle of the cell and lined with four rows of ejectisomes; the periplast has an inner sheet and an outer component of a thick mat of coarse fibrils. The periplastidial compartment contains a single, lobed chloroplast, a pyrenoid and a nucleomorph located in an anterior groove or depression in the pyrenoid. Chloroplast contains the biliprotein Cr-phycoerthrin. Marine.
