Description of Teleaulax

Cryptomonad flagellates, cells with arcuate ends, possessing a long furrow but lacking a gullet. The inner periplast component is a sheet, whereas the surface component consists of an imbricate layer of heptagonal rosulate scales complemented with overlaying and interdispersed fibrils. The periplastidial compartment has a single boat-shaped chloroplast with thylakoids arranged in loose aggregates of three,with a dorsalcentral pyrenoid which is not traversed by thylakoids and a nucleomorph. Chloroplasts contain phycoeryth-rin Cr-545. Marine.
