Description of Conradiella

Single-cell flagellates with one flagellum visible by light microscopy; cells covered with armor consisting of hoop-like siliceous rings; some species with bristles or spines; two parietal chloroplasts; contractile vacuoles in anterior (?) end of the cells; chrysolaminaran vacuole in posterior end of the cell; cysts known for some species; a somewhat dubious genus observed only by light microscopy and therefore possibly representing certain species of Mallomonas; found in the freshwater plankton.
