Description of Pseudokephyrion

Single-celled, free-swimming flagellates enclosed in ovoid, bottle- to vase-shaped lorica that has a wide mouth opening; cells with two unequal flagella, one or two chloroplasts, with or without an eyespot, and with contractile vacuoles; freshwater, planktonic; except for the presence of two visible flagella, Pseudokephyrion appears to be identical to Kephyrion (q.v.); Species of the genus Ollicola resemble Pseudokephyrion but occur in salt water; type species: Pseudokephyrion undulatum (Klebs) Pascher 1913.
