Description of Stomatochone

Jakobid flagellates, sessile flagellates attaching directly to substrate by means of a cytoplasmic attachment, species described with one or two (unequal) flagella, and with cytoplasmic hood around the long flagellum. Superficial similarity with cell of Histiona, but awaiting ultrastructural or other studies to confirm affinities with this taxon or with the stramenopiles. One species S. infundibuliformis Pascher 1942.
