Description of Cosmoeca

Cells solitary, lorica barrel-shaped, constructed of rod-shaped costal strips with E-joins; spines may be present; lorica consists of 9-12 longitudinal costae and 2-4 transverse costae; simple pedicel may be present; division tectiform; marine and brackish waters; worldwide; Platypleura is similar but with broad costal strips.
