This is the type species of the genus. The cells are ovoid in shape. They do not contain chloroplasts but cells often have a pale pink coloration. Plate patterns are rarely visible in watermounts. The cells have 3 apical plates and only 1 antapical plate. The first apical plate is of the ortho type. Both cingulum and sulcus are supported by pronunced lists with the left sulcal list extending beyond the antapical cell margin.Trusted
