This species is a planktonic marine dinoflagellate. Cells are pentagnol extended at the anterior and posterior. Cells also contain a prominent apical horn and antapical spines. There are prominent ridges over the surface with many dipples on the theca. It is photosynethic and has a large oval shaped nucleus that is located posteriorly.
