Description of Platycola decumbens

Peritrich ciliate in decumbent lorica, up to 90 micrometres in length. Lorica transparent when new, yellowish or golden brown in older specimens; sack-like, without neck. Body colorless, projecting well above the opening of the lorica, bent upwards at right angle. Well-developed undulating membrane. Contractile vacuole near bottom of cytopharynx. Macronucleus long and straight. Fresh water, on plants and other objects.
