Overview

Brief Summary

Introduction

This genus was recently erected by Skevington and Yeates (2001). Twenty-one valid species are currently treated in Dasydorylas but many species of Eudorylas will have to be transferred into the genus as regional revisions proceed. The genus is cosmopolitan.

Comprehensive Description

Characteristics

A combination of characters, including those of the male genitalia, are needed to identify Dasydorylas. Use the key in Skevington and Yeates (2001) to identify them.

The only regional revision treating Dasydorylas was recently completed for Europe (Kehlmaier, 2005). A revision of the African species of Eudorylini is expected soon (Földvári, submitted). Skevington (in prep) is working on a revision of Australian Dasydorylas.
