Reasons: Recent surveys of habitat in the Apalachicola Lowlands (by the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service) show a rapid loss of habitat and a limited range for this species. The plants cannot survive changes in hydrology and intensive site preparation. The Florida Natural Areas Inventory's database currently contains 209 records, all from the central Florida panhandle.
