Range Description

This species is only known from Tumbo and Kassa Islands in Guinea's Los Archipelago, from Conakry on the coast of mainland Guinea (Gans 1987, 2005), and has recently been found, apparently disjunctly, in three sites in northern Guinea: Dondé, Doubi and Wondiré (L. Chirio in litt.). These new records represent a substantial range extension, but are thought likely to represent the genuine limit of the species' range (L. Chirio pers. comm. 2012). Gans (1987) indicates that Loveridge (1941) provides a record for Rio Pongo in Guinea-Bissau, but apparently does not consider this record valid as it is not included in the distribution given for this species. This species is not included in the checklist of reptiles of Guinea produced by Böhme et al. (2011), and no explanation is provided for this omission. Occurs from sea level up to 300 m.
