Deinagkistrodon acutus can be found in Southeastern China in the provinces of Anhwei, Chekiang, Fukien, Hunan, Hupeh, Kiangsi, Kwangsi, Kwangtung, Kweichow, extreme southeastern Szechwan, and possibly Yunnan. This species also occurs in northern Vietnam, and central and southern Taiwan.
