Gekko grossmanni has been assessed as Data Deficient as it is only known from one province in Viet Nam and there is no information available concerning its ecology, habitat status and threats. This species is kept as a pet. No reports on captive breeding exist and this species is exported in "partly large" numbers from Viet Nam (Kreuzer and Grossmann 2003).
