Range Description

This species is distributed throughout the north of Australia from northeastern Western Australia to the north of New South Wales, and is also found in the islands of the Torres Strait and in the Trans-Fly region of southwestern Papua New Guinea and adjoining Papua, Indonesia (Smith et al. 2004). Where V. scalaris and V. similis are discussed as two separate species, V. scalaris is described from Northwestern Australia and V. similis from Northern Australia and New Guinea (Bhme 2003).
