Anopheles darlingi Root, 1926, a wild mosquito with anthropophilic habits, which is the main vector of the three Plasmodium species that causes human malaria in Brazil (Tadei et al., 1998). Anopheles darlingi is the main vector of malaria in the Amazon, especially in areas undergoing severe environmental disturbance from the exploitation of natural resources (such as wood, ores, and oil extraction), rural settlement projects, and fish farming (Tadei et al., 2007).
