Typical annual cyprinodontiform fish; eggs deposited in the substrate survive therein through the dry season experiencing numerous phases of development with intervening diapauses; eggs then hatch at the onset of the following rainy season; inhabits a swamp and a residual, ephemeral pool that dries up completely on a seasonal basis (Ref. 74420).
