This species is based on a single strange specimen found washed up on the shore of Australia and generally believed to be a warped individual from another species found elsewhere.

Geographic range comments need to be updates. There are more than a half dozen common species within this range.

The sibling status of Uca pugilator and U. panacea might be added, along with the geographic zone of overlap in the northeast Gulf of Mexico. It would be nice to place the general comments on decapods, crabs, and fiddler crabs for higher level taxa and reserve the species accounts for information applicable to this level.
