Acroporidae: Facts

Acroporidae corals account for not only a great deal of the coral trade, but also account for one third of coral growth in the world. They are stony corals.

These corals are in the subclass Hexacorallia, also known as Zoantharia. This means that Acroporidae has tentacles in multiples of six.

Acroporidae gain a large amount of their energy from algaic photosynthesis, but the cannot get all their energy from these plants. As a suppliment, Acroporidae eat dinoflagellates and amphipods.
