Description of Perezia

Monomorphic, diplokaryotic and monokaryotic; all stages in direct contact with host cell cytoplasm; merogony - meronts are diplokaryotic cells which divide by binary fission; sporogony - ribbon-shaped plasmodia, with at least six isolated nuclei possibly more; spores, 2.5 µm long, broadly ovoid; polaroplast is lamellar and the polar tube has 13 or 14 apparently isofilar irregularly arranged coils; type species P. lankesteriae in cytoplasm of Lankesteria ascidiae (Apicomplexa, Gregarinida) in stomach of Ciona intestinalis (Tunicata) (little fleas have lesser fleas).
