Erect annual or short-lived perennial, up to 1 ml. Stems with long spreading hairs over a denser pubescence; leaves palmate with 7-9 narrowly oblong-elliptic leaflets, crowded near the base of the plant; flowers in racemes up to 50 cm, mostly blue, sometimes pink or white; the fruits are pods held semi-erect along the old flowering stem.
