Range Description

This species is endemic to Mexico, where it is widely distributed in the west, along the Pacific coast and also on Maria Cleofas island. Plants occur in the following states, Chiapas, Colima, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nayarit and Oaxaca.

This species grows in forest dominated by species of Pinus and Quercus in dry climates which have a strong seasonal rainfall. The general vegetation type is called low elevation coastal thornbush.
