DescriptionShrubs or trees. Flowers bisexual, 5-merous (in ours), subtended by a subulate bract and 2 bracteoles inserted at the base of the flower. Inflorescence composed of axillary panicles. Calyx fused to ovary, the lobes persistent at the apex of the fruit, without glands. Corolla campanulate, marked with glandular dots or lines. Ovary semi-inferior (in ours). Fruit dry or fleshy, ± spherical, crowned with persistent sepals and style, many-seeded. Seeds numerous.
