General Description

Three crustose lichen genera with large spores, large lecanorine apothecia, richly anastomosing narrow paraphyses, and large thick-walled Pertusaria-type or Pertusaria-like asci.

Ochrolechia spores 1-celled, thin-walled, apothecia superficial, adnate
Pertusaria spores 1-celled, thick-walled, often two-layered, apothecia superficial or immersed in verrucae
Varicellaria spores 2-celled
