Global Range: Distributed throughout the western part of North America, and are also widely distributed in Asia, Europe, and eastern North America. Alaska, British Columbia, California, Oregon, and Washington (Hong 1980). Also known from Tennessee and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Basically an imperfectly holarctic oceanic species, avoiding all continental areas (Schuster 1974).
