Bulbous, perennial herbs. Leaves 1-4, linear, usually developing after flowering. Inflorescence a lax raceme of 12-20 flowers. Flowers in simple racemes, green or brown with white margins, nocturnal. Bracts acuminate, at least the lower ones usually spurred, each with a small, linear bracteole beside or above it, early caducous. Perianth of 6 segments, fused only at base, the segments reflexed. Stamens 6; filaments forming a "lantern" below and free above (i.e. filaments curving outwards from the base, then connivent, then erect and arcuate in upper half). Ovary, 3-locular. Capsule ovoid. Seeds flat, ovate, winged, black, shiny, papillose.Trusted
