Range Description

The species is wide-ranging, distributed in northeastern Mexico in the state of Tamaulipas. It has been reported from the literature to occur in Coahuila and Nuevo León, and in Texas in the United States (Taylor 1985, Hernández et al. 2004, Powell et al. 2008). It grows in the Rio Grande Plain. In southern Texas it can be found from San Antonio, Bexar County, to the Rio Grande in Webb, Starr, and Cameron Counties, Hidalgo County, to northeastern Mexico. It has an approximate range extent of less than 100 to 250 km2 (less than 40 to 100 square miles). It grows from sea level to 1,200 m asl.
