Occurs in the Gauteng and Mpumalanga Provinces of South Africa from Bronkhorstspruit between Verena and Groblersdal. Has a very restricted distribution being known from only two localities. The plants are locally common, but do not occur outside of this area. Collections from Swaziland have allegedaly been named as this species, but these are probably misidentifications, and are more likely to be Gladiolus sericeovillous Hook.f.
