@Annkatrin Rose: You've unearthed an interesting problem here. It looks like the Smithsonian Botany collection gives us two names: Chimaphila guatemalensis Rydb. and Chimaphila maculata (L.) Pursh. Meanwhile, Tropicos tells us that Chimaphila guatemalensis Rydb. is a synonym of Chimaphila maculata (L.) Pursh. So our taxon concept algorithm merges the Smithsonian Chimaphila guatemalensis Rydb. with the Chimaphila maculata (L.) Pursh concept thus orphaning the Smithsonian Chimaphila maculata (L.) Pursh to a separate concept. Clearly, this is unfortunate, the Smithsonian Chimaphila maculata (L.) Pursh should have been merged with the other Chimaphila maculata's and Chimaphila guatemalensis Rydb. should have gotten its own taxon concept, especially since some sources, e.g., the Plant List, do recognize Chimaphila guatemalensis Rydb. as an accepted name. I will put this on our list of things to fix once we have the new taxon concept management tools.

There seem to be two pages for this plant. The other one is here: http://eol.org/pages/585661/overview
