Ceiba pentandra (Kapoktree) is a species of tree in the family mallows. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Puerto Rico, The Neotropics, Maranhao, Pará, U.S. Virgin Islands, Acre (Brazil), Roraima, and Amazônia. They have compound, broad leaves, white flowers, and capsule fruit. Flowers are visited by Pemba Flying Fox, African Straw-colored Fruit Bat, Little Flying Cow, and lesser dawn bat. Individuals can grow to 150 feet.
