Clarkia imbricata is found only in a highly restricted area known as Vine Hill, in the Sonoma Barrens of western central Sonoma County. C. imbricata is specialized to the low pH sandy soil substrate of the Sonoma Barrens, as well as the semi-Mediterranean climate. In turn this habitat is home to other rare species, such as Arctostaphylos densiflora and Ceanothus foliosus var. vineatus, that have adapted to these extreme soil conditions.Trusted
