NatureServe Conservation Status

Rounded Global Status Rank: G3 - Vulnerable

Reasons: The final GRANK will depend on clarification of the taxonomic discrepancies. Gilia mcvickerae is reported from three counties in UT while G. pinnatifida is reported from several UT counties as well as WY. Reports of G. mcvickerae from Colorado, Nebraska, and New Mexico are considered misidentifications by Kartesz (unpubl., 1998). The species is accepted by Kartesz (1994 checklist), but was considered a synonym by Flora of Utah and by USFWS.
