Range Description

This species is endemic to Puerto Rico (Acevedo-Rodriguez and Strong 2012). It has a restricted range and is known to be found in Maricao and Río Abajo State Forests, as well as the municipalities of Utuado and Ciales. There were five individuals found in 1991 within Susúa State Forest, however, no individuals have been reported from this location since that time (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service 1999). From herbarium collections and observational records the estimated area of occupancy (AOO) is 96 km2 and the estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) is 1,020 km2. This was calculated using the GeoCAT tool (Bachman et al. 2011). Reproductive success is limited as the remaining populations are fragmented between the two State Forests and other known locations (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service 1999).
