Fumana thymifolia is a glandular-hairy, low perennial shrub that reaches up to 15-30 cm long. Stems are many, much-branched into intricate, erect or ascending branches. Leaves are 0.3-1.6 x 0.1-0.15 cm, partly opposite and partly alternate, linear, with revolute margins, and acute to obtuse apex. Flowers are yellow, occasionally with a reddish blotch at the base of each petal, and arranged in 3-8-flowered racemose inflorescences. The fruit is a globose-ovoid, glabrous 4-5 mm capsule carrying slightly tuberculate, brownish seeds.
