Large tree, often with a well buttressed trunk. Bark smooth, grey. Leaves ovate to oblong, 8-19 cm, dark green, covered with small rough hairs; apex forming a long drip-tip; margin entire or obscurely toothed in the apical half. Flowers in small axillary clusters, greenish, unisexual on the same tree. Fruit conical-ovoid, often 4-angled when dry, c. 1 cm, dark yellow, tipped with the remains of the stigma.
