This species occurs in southeastern France, northern and central Italy and in the Slovenian Alps.In France, there are more than 67 sites and the range is 13,000 km². In Italy, the range is less than 20,000 km² and has declined by 28% in the past. In Slovenia, there are three disjunct areas in the Alps with 49 localities (Commission of the European Communities 2009).
